Compounding dexamethasone for peds
Does anyone have a formula for compounding dexamethasone from either the injection or tablets, with any stability information?

I agree with Kyle. Our hospital does the same. The oral dexamethasone liquid tastes real bad. So the IV formulation is more concentrated and can be taken easier.

Dexamethasone IV can be pulled up and administered orally without the need for compounding. We do this routinely in our Peds ER for croup. Added to a little apple juice makes it a bit more palatable. Since it is given immediately you don't have to worry about stability.
