Chad Hardy graduated from the University of Texas at Austin and the Health Science Center in San Antonio Texas. After receiving his Doctorate in Pharmacy, he went on to serve in the United States Navy as a Medical Service Corps Officer and obtained his masters degree in Information Technology. Before joining the HCHD Pharmacy team in 2005, Dr. Hardy held positions in some of the leading US Healthcare Technology companies. His roles at HCHD include management of the Pharmacy Informatics team, liaison to IT on critical projects, and daily involvement in pharmacy technology initiatives. Dr. Hardy is very active in the American Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists (ASHP), providing leadership to their Executive Committee on Pharmacy Informatics and Technology and serving on serveral advisory groups. His publications and presentations include topics on the pharmacy practice model, the role of pharmacists in healthcare informatics, and guidelines for safe and effective use of computerized medication order entry systems. Dr. Hardy is also member of the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA) and the Healthcare Information Management and Systems Society (HIMSS).
