Looking for insider tips on what to do in Baltimore?

A proud native of Baltimore, Dan Ashby gives us insider tips on what to do in the city of Baltimore when you are there for the 2012 ASHP Summer Meeting & Exhibition on June 9 - 13, 2012!

How long have you been in Baltimore?  13 years

Favorite place in the city: "Downtown": Harbor East, Fells Point and Federal Hill

Best way to spend a Saturday in the city: A short walk around the harbor to Fells Point; shops and restaurants; or take the water taxi.

Favorite restaurant: Charleston, Cinghiale, Pazo, Capital Grill or almost any restaurant in Little Italy ... you can't go wrong if you like Italian. (Amiccis, Ciao Bella, Della Notte and Caesar's Den)

Favorite landmark or activity at the Inner Harbor: A short distance from the Inner Harbor: Fort McHenry (could access by water taxi) or the Train Museum (a short cab ride)

Top insider tip for visitors: Locals more likely to frequent Harbor East, Fells Point, Canton or Federal Hill ... all a short distance from the Inner Harbor.

Joanne, if you're looking only for the Inner Harbor, I would recommend the Rusty Scupper.
I've heard the best place to get crab cakes is at Faidley Seafood in Lexington Market. You also can't go wrong with Gertrude's, L.P. Steamers, or Mama's on the Half Shell, but some of these you may need to cab too.

Don't forget that one of the best places in the country to see a baseball game is right there at Camden Yards! The Orioles have home games against Philadelphia 6/8 (7:05pm), 6/9 (4:05pm), and 6/10 (1:05pm); and against Pittsburgh 6/12, 13, & 14, all at 7:05pm. http://baltimore.orioles.mlb.com
