Dreaming of Vegas
As I watched my classmates prepare to leave for Midyear and observed the flurry of activity on email, blogs and the internet, I couldn't help but feel jealous -- and not just because the meeting was in Vegas (although that does sound really fun!).  I knew everyone going would gain something from Midyear, whether it is new clinical knowledge, new professional contacts, a heightened enthusiasm for the profession, or a better understanding of how to navigate the residency showcase.

I am looking forward to hearing about what the students from my school learned, but I still wish I could experience the meeting first-hand.  With a very busy home life and two young children, it isn't easy for me to get out of town for a couple days.  Schedules need coordinating, meals need planning, grandparents need booking. And I still need to keep up with school.

So as I let the visions of palm trees and neon lights dance in my head, I'll continue to take advantage of local and state-wide meetings, online conferences and resources, and start planning to attend Midyear in 2013 as P4.

I'm kind of in the same boat. This is the first in five years that I have not gone to Midyear. I was privileged enough to experience it as both a student and a resident, and I was hoping to experience it as a full-time practitioner this year. Alas, as the new person in the Pharmacy department this year, I was unable to attend. But I am already looking forward to Midyear in 2013 in Orlando! You'll be able to see palm trees there too!
