♫ Do you want to build a snowman? ♫

After one delay and two more snow days this week, I think I have finally acclimated.  The other day it finally almost reached 40°F.  I don’t think anyone from Hawaii has ever said this, but I was feeling hot!  I was almost ready to put on my board shorts and tank top…almost. :P

I did get a chance to build a little mini snowman with my daughter.  Wow, it is a lot harder than I ever imagined it would be.  How do you make it get a perfectly round shape? #Hawaiigrownproblems

Each day I learn something new and interesting here at ASHP.  For example, in early February, a host of pharmacy students around the country took to Capital Hill to bring awareness of the provider status legislation.  Here is a great link to learn more.  I wish I could have gone!  In the world of pharmacist informaticists, great progress is being done with creating smart pumps that can bidirectionally “speak” to the EHR, making meds safer and easier to coordinate when to infuse multiple medications.  I also learned the 1st phase of the “Track and Trace” laws are going into effect very soon and ASHP is working very hard to make sure we are ready for the changes.

In addition to learning more about these important topics, I am working on a longitudinal project by gathering data for a medication safety mobile application.  Project work takes time, so it is always sad when you run out of coffee!

But don’t fear, ASHP knows externs run on this brown elixir of life, so just about around every corner you can find a coffee station brewing up some yummy goodness.  They even have K-cups!  I love it at ASHP! Oh, and did I mention they have free coffee!!! :)

That is such a nice snow man. Can we name the snow man, Olaf? (If we name him, Olaf, then we have to take off the hat)
