BCPS Ambassador: So you're BCPS certified... now what?

As you may have seen perusing the blogs recently, there are several of us that have been selected as BCPS Ambassadors for the New Practitioner's Forum. Now normally I do not usually have trouble finding what I want to say, but I am new to this whole blogging... experience and have had a bit of writer's block in trying to find the best way to introduce myself. Well... here goes nothing.
My name is Meredith Gilbert Plock, and I am currently almost a year out of residency and practicing emergency medicine pharmacy at Baptist Memorial Hosptial- Memphis. This also happens to be the awesome institution that I was able to complete my PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice residency at and am so excited to continue my career here. I graduated from Mercer University College of Pharmacy in 2013 with a concentration in geriatric care. I recently passed by BCPS this past October, a goal of mine since starting pharamcy school. I am also taking on a new challege as preceptor for emergency medicine for the University of Tennesse College of Pharmacy here in Memphis, as well as Union University. My students definitely keep me on my toes! And, my newest endeavor that I am starting, is to prepare for my CGP.
But what is it about those 4 little letters at the end of our signature that entices us all to persue it? Well, for me at least, it was a way to show to my fellow healthcare professionals the dedication to my practice. My desire to keep learning and optimizing my own prescribing trends to provide the utmost quality care. To my students, that you always have more to learn and experience, that our profession is always evolving.
We have chosen to take this step in showing our dedication to our profession, by becoming board certifed or being active in our pursuit of CE credits, becoming invloved in our local/state/national organizations. And I, as only one pharmacist, thank every single one of you for taking that journey. I am just starting on mine, and I hope you tag along for the ride!
