Being a member is a great opportunity to network with local pharmacists and student pharmacists, discuss pertinent issues that affect health systems within your state, and get involved in leadership activities

I have been so impressed with the progress to date with ASHP and the ASHP Foundation’s Pharmacy Practice Model Initiative, and the support that it has received from ASHP’s state affiliates. Even though the PPMI Summit occurred in November 2010, state affiliates were already were discussing the imperatives for practice model change back in November 2008 at the State Affiliate Presidential Officers’ Retreats across the country. Since the official launch of PPMI, state affiliates have taken the lead in spreading the word about the Initiative
The group focused on ensuring current Maryland State Board of Pharmacy (MDBOP) regulation allows for flexibility and support in monitoring and implementing new technology in pharmacy practice settings.
Does you state ASHP affiliate have a New Practitioners Forum?...Perhaps the best part of all is that the idea to start the forum and to provide programming was championed by a new practitioner! So if your state doesn't have a NPF, step up!
