Would you like to participate in the exciting informatics session Informatics Pearls 2014: “Bytes” of Informatics?
The ASHP Informatics Pearl session was a hit last year and is back by popular demand! It's a five minute presentation designed to convey one practical idea, concept, or fact that has been useful in day-to-day practice. It should be an interesting topic that is not "common knowledge", widely published, understood, taught, or can help improve patient care.

.
ASHP is open to a wide variety of topics including clinical decision support, analytics at work, management of big data, successful implementations; lessons learned, etc. Examples of topics include but are not limited to:
- Improvement in Electronic Health Records (EHRs) to enhance patient safety efforts
- Leveraging technology to assist in transitions of care and medication reconciliation
- Developing informatics skills for future pharmacists
- Managing unintended consequences of technology
- Management of EHR systems across practice settings
- Integration of IV infusion pumps (clinical decision support flow through, EHR, EMR)
- EHR implementation’s impact on pharmacy workload and staffing requirements
- The delivery of healthcare information to team members (including patients)
- Leapfrog success stories
- Future planning
Keep in mind that these presentations are not intended to be a review of literature. These proposals are anecdotal but are expected to be grounded in fact. Pearl presentations should be based on your Informatics acumen and practice, as opposed to a review of papers.
