To kick off American Pharmacists Month KCHP, its Board of Directors and Marketing
Committee, led by past-president Greg Burger, have been developing a
grassroots-led public service announcement (PSA) over the course of the past
year. This PSA will be part of a larger campaign focusing on collaborative
practice.
First, I would like to share with you why this
topic is so important to me. Last year, when the Kansas legislature passed a law
on Pharmacist Collaborative Practice, I was excited about the breakthrough. The
Topeka Capital Journal did a follow-up article on this law.
Comments in response to the article were
troubling to me:
"I trust my pharmacist to tell me what to
use if I have a sunburn."
That was the statement that got
me hooked! The perception of pharmacists with the general public needs to
change. My umbrage motivated me to start and finish this project. Who better to
help change that perception than the physicians who collaborate with us on a
daily basis? And so, KCHP has created a video that features physicians sharing
the ways in which they collaborate with pharmacists.
