Truly a sad time and an immeasurable loss for our profession. I will miss her incredible energy and enthusiasm. She always seemed to be everywhere doing everything. If there is any solace, it is in knowing that she inspired so many that behind her rise a group of highly motivated and engaged professionals that will carry on her work.

I wonder how many people in the pharmacy community were fortunate enough to refer to this unique individual as "my friend, Janet Teeters." There are many more, I suspect, than we know. The emotions I feel about losing Janet are difficult to put into words. But there are other feelings that are not difficult at all.
As a co-worker of Janet's and a witness to some of her extraordinary accomplishments at ASHP on behalf of pharmacy residents, I want to thank Jennifer Schultz and Ashley Overy for their comments about Janet's body of work. Because Janet did what she did without a lot of fanfare, her "profound impact" that Colleen mentioned may not be as apparent to everyone as it is to Jennifer, Ashley, and other residents and students spending time at ASHP.
It was a privilege to watch Janet work, interweaving creativity with productivity, always looking for more efficiency, higher quality - and having fun the whole time. I believe her tireless commitment to excellence in experiential training resulted in an enduring legacy to pharmacy, giving us new practitioners that are "so sharp,"[as one well-know pharmacy leader put it. I agree - the residents I've worked with are extraordinary, dedicated, engaged, and most important, professionals to whom I would entrust my care. These young practitioners are the future of our profession and in part because of Janet, they will be well-prepared.
I respected and admired Janet so much and I know I'm not alone. As a friend and a pharmacist, thank you, Janet, for sharing your delightful and joyous personality with me and for being a such a wonderful teacher and leader.

Janet did so many wonderful things to increase the opportunities for growth for new pharmacy practitioners. Janet's work to improve and expand residency training has positively impacted so many lives. She has succeeded in her life adn left a profound impact on our profession. My favorite quote about living a successful life is included below, and Janet has definitely achieved this goal:

My heart is heavy to have lost a colleague, neighbor, and friend. I first met Janet in Illinois when she was the President of the Illinois Council of Health-System Pharmacists. She played an important role in getting me involved with ICHP and served as one of my references when I was hired by ASHP. I am ever grateful for her influence on my early career. When she joined ASHP I gained a colleague and neighbor as we lived just one street away from each other. We sometimes carpooled and shared grocery store and restaurant reviews and other community news. At work she was always generous with her time, advice, and perspectives despite how busy she was in improving and expanding residency and technician training programs. I enjoyed how our personal and professional lives intertwined. I miss Janet. We will all miss her vivacious spirit, her quick smile and her friendship.

Dearest Janet,
I will miss catching up with you at Midyear and talking about your travels. No matter what the situation, you always could provide a smile and thoughtful word. Thank you for helping expand pharmacy residencies and improving the profession. We will all miss you.

Not surprising, all the many comments left on Facebook and other places and all the private conversations by ASHP staff show what a profound impact Janet has had on the profession and peoples’ lives. And all in her own humble and “real” way – never one to show any signs of self-importance but she undoubtedly was a very important and special person to many many people. I have enjoyed working with Janet over the years and saw up front her professional dedication, love of life and adventure, and her respect for all people. I will miss her great smile and warm heart.
