With the 2012 ASHP Midyear Meeting & Exhibition in just a few days, many students will want to stay connected with the students and pharmacists that they will meet.  ASHP Connect is the perfect tool to help foster and maintain these connections.  However, I have heard a few students hesitant to use ASHP Connect because of the four myths below.

MYTH - I have to be a member of ASHP to have a profile on ASHP Connect.
FACT - ASHP Connect is open to anyone interested in health-system pharmacy.  Any student, pharmacist, practitioner, or other professional can create an ASHP Connect profile.

MYTH - Future employers can see what I write on the Pharmacy Student Forum discussion group.
FACT - The Pharmacy Student Forum discussion group is only visible to students registered with ASHP.  Access to the discussion group is restricted only to student membership.

MYTH - ASHP Connect is only for therapeutics related questions.
FACT – ASHP Connect is for any question related to health-systems pharmacy.  Currently, the most active posts in the Pharmacy Student Forum include:

MYTH – No one uses ASHP Connect.
FACT – Each day more students and pharmacists are using ASHP Connect.  Currently, Student Forum alone has almost 18,000 members and the Midyear 2012 community has 15,800 members.

Overall, ASHP Connect allows members to enhance collaboration within the pharmacy world.  If you would like to see more ASHP Connect content on a specific topic, please leave your suggestions/comments below and the Community and eCommunications Advisory Group (CeCAG) will make it a top priority.  If you have not done so already, setup your ASHP Connect profile, download the mobile application, and start making pharmacy connections today!
